The following objectives will be covered in this six weeks:


Unit 7: Investigating Ecosystems

  • Observe and describe the physical characteristics of environments and how they support populations and communities of plants and animals within an ecosystem.
  • Identify and describe the flow of energy in a food chain and predict how changes in a food chain affect the ecosystem.
  • Describe environmental changes such as floods and droughts where some organisms thrive and others perish or move to new locations.


The following writing prompts will be covered the week of Feb. 24-28, 2020:

Students will respond to the following writing prompts in class as daily warm-ups:

Monday: More Science Monday! We are starting a new unit over ecosystems. Tell me what you already know about ecosystems!

Tuesday: Talk It Out Tuesday! Talk with a partner about what we learned yesterday and then create a writing prompt together.

Wednesday: Where I’d Live Wednesday! If you could be any animal or plant in the world, what would you be? Where would you live?

Thursday: Throw It Out There Thursday! Write about something you need clarification on.

Friday: Free Friday! Write about something you learned this week!
