January 10th-14th over 50 Seagraves ISD students participated in the Gaines County Stock Show exhibiting rabbits, swine, cattle, lambs and goats. Our students earned 9 first places, 10 second places, 8 third places, and over 20 other animals showed. Tyreke Shanklin also had a reserve breed champion with his dutch rabbit and won Senior Rabbit Showmen. Zailie Goen was also awarded Senior Cattle Showmen with her calf Baloo that she is planning on taking to the Houston Livestock Show.

Raising and Showing Livestock animals is not an easy task, it requires dedication and commitment from students, family members and the Seagraves FFA Advisors. Students learn a lot of responsibility through their hard work with their animals, by spending time in the barns, cleaning pens, grooming animals and feeding them.  Our students have made a big commitment when they purchase their animals and have done an outstanding job caring for them. After competing at the Gaines County Livestock Show many of our students will continue to show at major stock shows such as San Angelo, San Antonio, and Houston. We want to wish these kids the best of luck throughout the season.
