Mrs.Fleenor, K-8 Literacy Specialist, Librarian, District Test Coordinator

Our Common Beliefs:

1. The school library is a unique and essential part of a learning community.

2. Qualified school librarians lead effective school libraries.

3. Reading is the core of personal and academic competency.

4. Learners should be prepared for college, career, and life.

5. Intellectual freedom is every learner’s right.

6. Information technology must be appropriately integrated and equitably available.

Our Freedom Statement:

Reading is a joy, a privilege, and the right of every student.  As each student selects library books that he/she will read, it is essential for our patrons to understand that not every book is the best choice for every student.  If a book is unappealing or offensive to a student or parent in any way, the student should return it and select another book.

Seagraves Elementary Library Policies:

Check-outs:

PreK and Kindergarten students may check out 1 book at a time.  First-Third grade students will be able to check out 2 books at a time.  Fourth-Fifth grade students will be able to check out 3 books at a time.

Due Dates:

Books are due 2 weeks from the time of checkout.  Books can be renewed if the student would like to keep them longer.

Fines

Fines will not be assessed for students in elementary school unless a book is damaged or lost.  Fines for damages will be determined by the extent of the damage.  Fines for books that are lost or damaged beyond repair will be the original cost of the book.  If a student owes for book damages or a lost book, he/she will still be allowed to check out books,                 but the books will have to remain at school.  Please feel free to speak to Mrs. Fleenor regarding any extenuating circumstances.

Special Requests:

The library staff STRONGLY ENCOURAGE recommendations of favorite, new, or outstanding literature and information resources by students, parents, staff, and community members. It is the desire of the library program to build a collection of materials and resources for our students that can be the pride of the whole community of Seagraves.
